I have one of the older Engel MT45 fridge freezers which only has a knob to control the temperature. Thus, when the ambient temperature increases, the temperature of the refrigerator increases. So I wanted to convert it to a digit. I designed and 3D printed an enclosure for a thermostat and a LM2596S (dual voltage fridge) and wired it to the side of the fridge. Setup was pretty easy. I set the heating/cooling mode to C for cooling, the temperature to what I wanted and the delta to 01 to 1 degree. So when I set the temp to 35, it starts the compressor at 34.9 and turns it on again at 36. There is also a compressor delay setting which I set to 01. If I unplug the fridge while the compressor is running and plug it back in, the compressor doesn't start within a minute. This can be set to zero if you don't want it.
