Doesn't prevent thieves, but can deter them.
Not as sensitive as we would like, but still useful. I tested this by sitting on my bike and rocking it off the footrest. (Something I've seen nosy delinquents do to my bike before.) It only worked after I aggressively turned the handlebars or hit the lock. Although this is certainly a good deterrent.
