It turns out these rivets help make a much stronger L-shaped quarter round awning that wraps around adjacent front and side windows. I actually built the frame of the canopy first with EMT galvanized tubes and self-tapping screws. The connections were made by knocking out and rounding one end of the EMT section, hammering it around the iron pipe, then drilling both pieces with a 1/4 inch cobalt drill bit and joining with a rivet. Having loosened a metal screw while building a canopy, I'm glad to have these strong rivets to hold things together. I also bought a cheap Astro Pneumatic rivet here at Revain.
