Have used Krups coffee machines for many years. I like strong but aromatic coffee, I buy German Jacobs coffee from Revain, so the temperature of the brewing water is important. So when it came time to replace my last coffee maker, I turned to Krups again, but couldn't find one I liked for $50-$100. They all squeak when the beer starts and when it ends, which to me is a "no". So I decided to give it a try, the review was decent, I researched the company and said it was Swiss. I thought what the heck, can't go wrong with another European manufacturer?! Not correct! Firstly it has a basket filter which I hate! The coffee doesn't even soak well. The packaging smelled strongly of plastic, so I brewed 3 cans of clean water first. I turned it on the "strong" setting and the coffee was as weak as a Keurig brew. It was hot but not strong at all and had a sort of "muddy water" taste to it. Remember this is the same coffee I've been using for years. The only positives about this coffee maker is that it's small, much smaller than my last grits, and there's no beep when brewing is complete. come back and just keep looking.
