When my package arrived it was obviously opened earlier, there was a nick at the top of the box and it was taped. There is also a wobble (don't know how to describe it, sort of a crunch) at the top edge of the back section, about 1 inch long, the rest of the edge is smooth. It is important to ensure that the measuring marks do not reach the bottom of the kettle! And although the lid is held by the handle in the photo, I wouldn't recommend this as the corner of the handle barely holds the lid and can be knocked off very easily. I don't like writing bad reviews but I expected more from this kettle, especially for the price.
