This thing has range!

Tl;Dr: This is a great long range transceiver for Linux machines and other systems that have trouble with BT audio. I have a Linux desktop running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. USB audio, 3.5mm audio, HDMI, and DP audio all work fine, but I've never gotten Bluetooth audio to work in my life. It turns out that some Bluetooth chipset vendors (like Broadcom) don't provide full drivers and firmware for Linux, so some things don't work either (or in my case don't work at all). The confounding factor for this is that I live in an apartment complex with BIG 2.4GHz interference from wifi, bluetooth, fluorescent lights and other devices. I received this as a last resort to get my BT headphones to work with this system. Here's my rating after 30 minutes of use: 1) Right now, the assortment on this map is sacred! Got a DG60 with large anti-interference antenna and it was worth it! At the other end of my apartment I can maintain a stable audio connection - it goes through 3 walls and with a block of switches in the way! 2) In Apt X mode (blue LED flashes 2 times every 5 seconds), the sound quality is quite good. . I haven't done analytical listening yet, but I don't intend to use Bluetooth headphones for this purpose either. I have nicer cans for that :) 3) In talk mode the music/sound quality drops noticeably BUT for a Zoom/Discord/VoIP call it's more than enough. I did a record and playback test and listened to a recorded sample in both talk mode and music/apt x mode and it worked. System to a port on the back of my system, all sorted. I'll attribute it to USB chipset weirdness or interference, as those ports also struggle with Logitech Unifying receivers. I'll try to remember to update this review after multiple uses (including some games!) so I can be a bit more thorough.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish
