So this is all new to us. I really got stuck at Wrightwood last year and I don't want to go through that again. After spending $160 on rope chains, they hitchhiked 1.5 miles down a snow-covered road, leaving the children alone in the car at the side of the freeway. Lose only the one that was installed incorrectly. I won't do it again, missed half a day on mtn because of this error. Having learned our lesson, we wanted to get something we knew we could have in the event of a seriously uncomfortable situation. I ordered something similar but made of plastic. We are planning to meet MTN on December 20th so we wanted to book in advance and check everything is ok. Well, there was a massive snow storm here in California and when I checked reviews of a previous product after the storm, I found out that plastic encasement chains are ILLEGAL in California. Brought these suction cups back and made something different. I bought a pair of these beautiful necklaces and I have to say I was impressed. Arrived today and put them on our heavy four-wheeler. the chains seem to be of good quality, the price pretty much says it. I'll see how they work next week. I will update the review if they work or not. Tip: Don't rely too much on instructions. Do some tests at home in your garage to get to know your product better. These chains are a new generation, so treat them at your own expense before you find yourself in a 30 degree roadside snowstorm, no matter where you live and sadly get stuck or worse. . Make sure you put them on gently, it's pretty dangerous with some sharp metal ends. The instructions suck and aren't really in proper English so be aware you'll have to figure everything out on your own. You can try using an image, but be aware that small charts and visually impaired people don't always go hand in hand. Make it a weekend project! Race with your kids to see who can stop them the fastest and who can take them out the fastest. Have fun, educate yourself and PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! Be careful with those sharp ends and metal fasteners. Easy place for kids to poke their fingers. I actually cut my hand pretty badly when I was learning how to put them on for the first time. The only thing you can't do is make it worse. Try your best to familiarize yourself, that's all I'm saying. Almost hoping to get stuck with my big ol' 4WD car just to watch. Nearly. :) Again I haven't used them in snow or mud so this should show you that you trust what I said about the dry build process. After that use, I'll quickly "prove their worth" or debunk what might just be a piece of junk. IF YOU LIVE IN CALIFORNIA MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THAT PLASTIC WRAPPING OF CHAIN IS ILLEGAL! also for good reason. If you ordered them, consider this product instead. Or not. It's your decision!
