Despite many bad reviews, I chose this jar because I thought the nozzle design was too good to pass up and I'm happy to share my satisfaction with you along with a few tips on how to use it be able. Having bought an awful 5 gallon model that had problems with leaking lids (according to other reviews) I was relieved to find mine came with a gasket and despite some rigorous testing it didn't leak. I would give it almost 5 stars but there are a few things to look out for so it's not perfect out of the box. The nozzle works just as conveniently as shown in the product video, although you may want to consider the size of your glass. Be careful if you share my T-Rex physique. Also, watch your wrist and don't forget that there is a handle on the back of the glass. The auto-stop function is a lifesaver, especially for devices with narrow filling openings, through which the filling level cannot be seen. . If you can't insert the nozzle deep enough into the container you're filling due to a gap, use a tight, airtight hose extension (skip the ones the company sells and cut a custom-length hose at the hardware store). autostop function; Just hold the button and the flow will stop once the gas level reaches the end of the hose (and the hose is full). Over 6 years later I can also attest that this can stand the test of time outdoors (with a roof over it). Both the lid and nozzle mechanism work flawlessly, and although the can body will round up a bit from sustained internal pressure, the bottom remains flat and stable and the material itself shows no signs of failure. A few tips for buyers: 1. Regardless of the size you choose, be sure to check the underside of the lid for a seal (mine is dark brown now, but 6 years ago it may have been black) when you receive your jar. If it's not there, don't agree - eventually it will leak. Either get a replacement, get your money back from Revain (yes this counts as a fault, missing parts and leaking) or go to a hardware store and buy your own if you want to save time and hassle. However, if you're going the DIY route, be careful; Some sealing materials can be degraded by gasoline over time.2. When screwing on the cap, make sure that the yellow housing is correctly positioned on the black ring nut. Mine leaked once when relatives used it while I was away and accidentally replaced the lid. The yellow body can be out of place even if the black part has no cross threads. The easiest way to prevent this is to pull the yellow part up while unscrewing the black ring. The ratchet strap on the black ring should be more than halfway engaged when the cap is properly installed.3. Don't overfill. If it's rated for 5 gallons, it'll hold that much. These cans are equipped with an air space at the top to degas up to a certain internal pressure. So if you fill them too much, the seal will literally burst. 4. Keeping this jar outdoors when significantly less than full risks collapsing due to pressure fluctuations caused by seasonal temperature changes. Don't keep this jar long until it's only partially full. If you want to leave it empty, loosen the lid slightly. PS I have seen reports that the auto shut off feature may not work if the green button is not fully depressed (i.e. maximum flow). I haven't tested it myself as I've always pushed it all the way in. 20190613 UPDATE: I saw a couple of these jars on the shelf at my local hardware store, and after trying the lids out of curiosity, found that the manufacturing tolerances are pretty loose. So if you're unlucky with the combination of jar and lid you get, they don't want it to sit together properly. (I was able to fix this by swapping out the lids.) You can check this out of the box by following my advice above and additionally checking that both the black threaded ring and the yellow lid body are flush with the red shoulder of the can. threaded hole. I also recommend checking your can for leaks before adding fuel, as gasoline makes them unsellable and makes returns/exchanges more of a hassle: 1. Add at least 1 cup of fresh, chilled soda of your choice to the can. (Baking soda and vinegar or water and dry ice will also work if you can keep them separate until step 3.)2. Replace the glass lid (follow the tips above).3. Invert the glass so the drink inside covers all sealing surfaces around and in the lid.4. Allow the drink to reach room temperature.5. Shake the jar upside down.6. Hold the can upside down and check the lid's sealing surfaces for leaks, bubbles, and bubbling. If any are found, an error. If the jar doesn't work, try putting the lid back on and checking again or replacing the jar. If it passes the test, rinse the jar and lid and dry completely before use.
