Works great on my 1998 city car because a genius at Ford decided the 1998 4.6L engine didn't fit and needed a coolant temp sensor, Instead, bs sensors are used. And they don't work but the town car still had a whole so I connected one to the fan relay since the relays work with ground not pos. THIS WORKS GREAT 40,000 miles and then I sold the car, it took me 3 years to figure it out and that's how I solved a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury problem with a 4.6 liter V8. You need to buy a thermostat that will replace the 180 the 190 that was there. Its placement is important, put it in a place that will get hotter than the rest or in a cooler place depending on where it is closer or farther from the thermostat. When you turn off the car, remember that the temperature will continue to rise for 5 minutes so you have a buffer. I connected it to a green LED button that turned green when the relay clicked thanks to that chassis negative switch.
