Review on EWK 6L Vacuum Oil Extractor Pump: Efficient and Convenient Fluid Extractor for Automotive and Marine Oil Changes by Bob Moonin

I bought this pump to change the oil in a stationary outboard motor. After using it a few times I quickly became disillusioned with the design as I used others that were more durable and better designed for almost the same price. I thought it would be the perfect light version, but it's not. Good: The hose line fits the dipstick perfectly. As expected, the hose depth had to be adjusted as the engine oil level changed to maintain pressure. The hose was the right length and stiffness to fit into the probe tube. It was easy to assemble and use (design issues aside). Design issues: The pump assembly is only held to the base by pressure on the rubber cap (no threads), so I had to hold it while using the pump. Several times during use the pump assembly came loose easily and had to be reinstalled at the rubber joint. The plastic threaded part at the top of the pump assembly (used to attach the T-handle) was in two pieces (unless it was defective or the wrong design) and did not hold the T-handle securely as it continued to pull out during use. If the design could be improved or changed, this would be a better product. Recommended: No
