Review on πŸš— Carter P72189: In-Tank Universal Electric Fuel Pump for Efficient Automotive Replacement by Christopher Jackson

Working well after 1 year

I installed this pump on my 84 year old F250 with a 351w engine about a year ago. So far there are no serious problems. I also installed a Carter 18-14U isolation kit and can say noise is not a problem. Before I start the engine, the pump makes enough noise to tell me it's running, but I can't hear it over the noise of the engine: Carter 18-14U Fuel Pump Assembly Kit Pay attention to this pump. not sold at most auto parts stores unlike the original mechanical pump in my pickup. Since I transport the camper long distances from home with my truck, I take another pump with me as a replacement. I've always said it's better to be on the safe side than a Catholic. I haven't had the hiccups in over a year so carrying around a spare pump is probably overkill, but I didn't want to wait for a spare pump to arrive. The only problem I have is that the performance seems to change. The specs say the output is 6-8psi. According to the gauge I installed, the fuel pressure at the carburetor inlet can vary from 4 to 10 psi. I don't know if the problem is with the pump itself or the display, but the engine runs fine regardless of what the display says. Holley 26-503 0-15 PSI Electric Fuel Pressure Gauge Make sure you use some type of automatic fuel pump shut-off. Instructions are included with the pump.
