Great Pump: Electric Fuel Pumps

I've had other cheap pumps on my Durmax that didn't last very long. This pump is pretty quiet and is holding up well so far!

Pros
  • Quality Construction
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Pressure only 3 psi

Bought 39 days ago. I finally installed it. That's when I discovered my fuel pressure was only 3psi. The return window has expired. DO NOT BUY

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Not happy with everything

Excellent Duramax Passive Fuel Pump

Passed through all major filter systems, went with crankcase and cat fuel filter adapter. I could be happier. And if it doesn't work, then passively. In fact, I drove with the engine off and had no problems.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Not bad but...

"Made in China ": marked on packaging

Carter's website says "Made in America". "Carter fuel pumps deliver OE fit, form and function with a broad line of American-made pumps and accessories for the professional installer." , see the problem

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • Difficult to identify

Perfect for classic cars

Great pump. Throw away the cheap gasket, you unreliable junk. This USA made pump is great. Good quality instructions. Getting a constant 5psi pressure in my Edelbrock carburetor with two Wix Clear 3/8 filters. Quiet for an electric pump, not audible because of the silencer. However, it does have a nice high so you know it's working. Buy this.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Zero

Failed second run

Unfortunately after the mechanic installed this Carter fuel pump I did not attempt to use the truck until the time the load was delivered then it would not start. The mechanic came and said the pump was fine but it wasn't working. The pump has failed and he needs to pull it out and see if he can figure out why. It's too late to return. It was sold by Revain but I don't see where to ask for help? Does somebody know?

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • No Instructions

Seems to be a reliable and quality product - what I wanted and was willing to pay for. Unfortunately it failed and left me stuck after about 2000 miles and two years. On the input side I have used new filters as stated. I replace it with the same block because I think the mistake was just bad luck. The downside, however, is that I'm not sure now if it will be reliable, so I plan on keeping a third unit on board and the tools to replace it again if it fails.

Pros
  • Works great for me
Cons
  • Updates available

First time great. Terrible longevity.

I installed this on my 2004 Duramax as a booster pump with a Wix filter. Has been running like a top for 4 months now and really woke up the truck. I have better max power, easier starts and the idle is completely smooth now. Much more economical than other lift pumps that start at $700 (although I had to make the brackets and finding quick connects was a joke). *Update* After about 7-8 months of use it started to have problems. The seal began to swell and block the pump as the engine stoppedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure

Working well after 1 year

I installed this pump on my 84 year old F250 with a 351w engine about a year ago. So far there are no serious problems. I also installed a Carter 18-14U isolation kit and can say noise is not a problem. Before I start the engine, the pump makes enough noise to tell me it's running, but I can't hear it over the noise of the engine: Carter 18-14U Fuel Pump Assembly Kit Pay attention to this pump. not sold at most auto parts stores unlike the original mechanical pump in my pickup. Pros

  • Big and bulky
