This material is great and works as advertised but works very well if you brush the rust off the surface with a wire brush. Applying this coating to unpolished rust will give a suboptimal result. Removing surface finish and then applying Loctite to incompletely oxidized metal will produce a dark gray to black layer that isolates the surface from oxygen/water. After a little sanding of the rust it worked so well I almost didn't paint over it. I have used it to coat and treat all my equipment at my workplace in a humid environment and it works very well.
