I use them in my outdoor enclosures. I use 5 or 6 of these. Much cheaper to run than an electric heater and they're half the price of the ones I've used. What I don't like about ceramic heat is that it doesn't heat up the aviary but is (presumably) absorbed by the birds' bodies. So I don't feel the heat when I go out there. But sometimes I see a lot of feathers on the ground, so I think they keep her warm enough. Maybe too warm. In front of them. BUT I found that my birds (small budgies) had nibbled through the cord on 2 of them exposing the wire and I had to throw them away. Luckily no birds were hurt and no fire started. After that I threw the cord straight down instead of laying it on the shelf and wrapped the part of the cord closest to the lamp with electrical tape. Hope that helps.
