Review on BD Diesel Performance 1300030 Isolator by Jon Lewis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works, but not recommended to use the included cable coupler.

This muffler definitely does the job, but I would recommend another way of connecting it to the correct wire from your PCM. I installed as instructed, drove the truck and was disappointed when the torque converter stopped working completely. I called BD Diesel for assistance. The guy I spoke to wasn't particularly friendly and dismissed the issue, but someone in the background overheard our discussion and said yes the faucet has been known to split the wire. I removed the faucet, removed the wires and attached them. with rotatable cable connection. I taped it well and voila. The torque converter works like a charm. No more driving at cruising speed. Now a final consideration: I've read that there are only more serious problems hiding behind them, especially with your generator. I went ahead and replaced my alternator at the same time. This is an easy task on our 5.9s that takes less than 45 minutes (could have been 15 minutes if I knew how to properly apply the lever to the idler pulley). So I would recommend starting with that before installing this noise isolator. A new generator can be purchased for less than $100. I figured a new generator and soundproofing would really cover my bases. Either way, drop the faucet. Connect the wires and do it right. This saves you potential headaches.
