I have used this tool in the shop and it is great for removing over tightened oil filters in hard to reach places. We usually use cup shaped filter removers but they tend to slip off if the filter is too tight and this thing has been loaned out a few times. It really bites and does its job. I think other reviewers are wrong about this tool. This is where stubborn filters are removed, not installed. It's like using a vise on a broken bolt. If your filter isn't too tight, use something else that will remove and reinsert the new filter at the same time. I gave it 4 stars simply because I've only had it a few months so can't comment on durability although it looks solid and well made. I will update if some kind of glitch occurs. 1 year update. I still use this tool every day and it still borrows a few times a week and isn't showing any signs of breakage anytime soon, so I'm updating it to 5 stars. Lately I've seen the exact same filter removers sold on tool carts but they are more expensive and this thing does the job well. Highly recommended
