One of the easiest maintenance tasks you can do on your car yourself. On most cars, including the Kia Optima, it's as simple as opening the hood, identifying the intake system, and undoing some plastic latches to gain access to the air filter. Kia recommends replacement every 48,000 km (30,000 miles). This was a direct replacement for what I believe was the original OEM filter. I can't vouch for better performance or anything that claims on the box, but it seems to be doing what it's supposed to do without causing any problems.
