One of the easiest maintenance tasks you can do on your car yourself. On most cars, including the Kia Optima, it's as simple as opening the hood, identifying the intake system, and undoing some plastic latches to gain access to the air filter. Just packed (filter in box). It takes three seconds to get out of the box. The filter is rigid enough to hold its shape when deployed but flexible enough to be manipulated to squeeze into the engine compartment. I recommend, in addition to loosening any metal fasteners holding the top down (I had 4), also loosening the pipe clamps or removing the breather cap fitting.
