You pick it up and it's not as difficult as you think. So far it's been very good! The grip is very comfortable. It delivers plenty of torque easily (I accidentally snapped a couple of washers in half) and the stem doesn't flex or flex. I've been using it for a few months and haven't noticed any slippage. I wanted something heavy that could outlast my fourth Craftsman replacement. But it is very good. I don't use the hammer part at all, and sometimes I have to use a different ratchet if space is an issue. And yes, the lack of a switch to change direction can suck, but that whole mechanism always breaks on regular ratchets, so you get that. but you get used to it over time.
