Review on Superb Wrench SPBW-5: Heavy Duty Wrench for 5.93 inch Inside Diameter Metal Water Filter Housings by Bob Jensen

Helped free a captured Culligan HD-950A

I use a swamp (HD-950A) between the well and the house. On my last filter change I didn't use food grade silicone to lubricate and seal the protectors. I broke 2 Culligan plastic keys (plastic keys? what the heck) when trying to open the looted case. I needed this wrench with a tension rod to apply the opening force and a 16" female connector lockout pliers set at 3.5" to apply counter force to the filter head mounting bolt assembly so the opening force would not break the bracket or water lines would. Also, I warmed the head of the filter housing with a small, portable, warm air heater about an hour before attempting to open the filter. Use food grade silicone for threads. If you're having this problem but don't have large pliers to block the channel, you can use something like rod clamps from your carpentry shop, but don't pinch the head of the filter housing with regular large pliers.

Pros
  • Very profitable
Cons
  • Reliable
