Like many others, there seems to be something wrong with Revane's system.

Incorrect product description. The inside diameter is 3.5 inches, not the 5.93 inches listed in the product description needed for my filter housing. I ordered the product for the second time, explained the problem and the second time I received the wrong size 3.5 inches. Looking at other recent reviews it looks like something is wrong with the Revain system as many people have had the same issue.

Pros
  • Sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • Periodicity

The second time around, finding the right size was magical.

I, like others, unfortunately managed to order a "close but no cigar" iteration of this key for my brand of filter. Glad I gave it another try as it is MUCH better than the plastic junk that broke after the 3rd filter change and has since been screwed and glued to a wooden stick. The wrench is pictured next to some of the 4.5"x10" filters I used (the housing was an opaque blue Dupont filter which I believe is no longer sold)

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Upgradable

Very good key, lots of leverage.

Very strong and well made key. Fits perfectly with my Culligan water filter. Much stronger than the plastic keys provided and can provide much more leverage. I'm very glad about that. However, it took Revain three tries to get it right: the first 3rd party did something fishy and canceled my order, the second (the 3rd party operated by Revain) sent the wrong size (refund) and finally the third sent the correct size. Minor problems, but not the end of the world.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Some difficulties

It's durable and gets the job done.

I was actually hesitant to buy it, thought I could buy two for that price or maybe three and use two at a time. I gave up and paid a bunch of dollars to get this metal item. It worked great, don't have to worry about it breaking again and the fault is with the handle, it doesn't have a filter, a hole at the top to get through and close or bypass the water so I'll give it a go Star. For that price they should have included it but it still works.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Only available in white

I am a water treatment plant operator. I .

I am the operator of a water treatment plant. I manage 30 different websites and change LOTS of filters. I cursed those ridiculous plastic keys for years. Eventually I found this key online and took it to a website where I left ONE set of filters unplugged for 2 months because I could NOT remove the case; I figured I'd have to do it at the end of the season; Remove the entire filter and bracket from the system and secure in a large vise. Instead I put a wrench on the filter housing and with a…

Helped free a captured Culligan HD-950A

I use a swamp (HD-950A) between the well and the house. On my last filter change I didn't use food grade silicone to lubricate and seal the protectors. I broke 2 Culligan plastic keys (plastic keys? what the heck) when trying to open the looted case. I needed this wrench with a tension rod to apply the opening force and a 16" female connector lockout pliers set at 3.5" to apply counter force to the filter head mounting bolt assembly so the opening force would not break the bracket or water…

perfect for the Big Blue filter

I installed the Big Blue filter when replacing my lines many years ago. Since then I've gone through about 4 filter keys. They were plastic. I asked the experts if they could get me one made of metal. You could, but I found this one (the one) on Amazon for half the price. I took a risk I just ran to change the filter and of course broke off the last plastic filter like a branch. I got this and it worked great. Yes, it had plenty of torque, but there were no issues, nor did it damage the filter…

Sizing is correct now, also BUY THIS

TL;DR: This metal key is more reliable and has a longer stroke which made removing this thing a breeze and within 15 seconds I had it free and replaced. It is the correct size 5.9 inches and fits perfectly. Got it. Your luck will return. TL; BIABRARTPTT (too long but I'm bored reading Revain reviews to pass the time) Brain trying to open these things. And check every forum and they come up with the same stupid suggestions: Have you tried leaving out the water? Did you press the pressure release

  • One Year Trial
Cons
  • Zero
