Review on πŸ‘ High-Quality 1.75mm Spool Printer Filament by AmazonBasics: A Comprehensive Review by Fredrick Edwards

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Decent yarn, poor packaging, non-standard spool size. Outrageous price!

Edit: After Revain wrote this review, Revain increased their prices by $3 per roll. Now this is an even worse value. It was initially rated as an average PLA, although it was supposed to have a cheap price. NOW it is priced premium, which is definitely not the case. This should be a maximum of $18 per roll. Revain Basics needs to be a valuable brand. Come on, Revane, Jeff's rich enough as it is. Finish Editing At first I was thrilled to see that the filament brand Amazon Basics is back. I bought and used Overture filament which appeared to be identical to the old Amazon basics, but I'm not 100% sure it is (the spool and packaging are almost identical, but the filament and colors are not). So I ordered some pearl white (I really like that color now that I've used it) and I got it in the mail a few days ago. First impression: the box looks the same as before. Upon opening the box, I was immediately disappointed to see that the filament no longer came in the zip-lock vacuum-packed packaging it used to be. Now it's wrapped in very thin shrink wrap (there's a desiccant bag, but it's a bit small). The next problem, the reel it appears on, is weird. It seems to be a special size. #1 it's very thin, #2 it's wider than normal spools (barely fits my Ender3), #3 the hole in the center is smaller than usual (makes a difference for me as I have reel adapters that don't fit) . In summary, I give three stars because of all the problems. Inexpensive packaging, weak and non-standard spool, good thread, but at a not cheap price. For the price I expected more, so I'm comparing it to Overture. Overture doesn't have any of the issues I've listed, but the packaging and price are much better. I might stick with the overture for a while if the price doesn't drop to match the budget features/packaging of this product.
