I need to drill a 5 inch -Hole in my concrete driveway to install a curb water drain in a house we are building. To use this core drill I bought a fairly light Bosch SDS plus rotary hammer, a 1/2" chuck and a 1/2" to 5/8" thread adapter. I was apprehensive about this setup but I only needed to make one hole so I gave it a try and it worked really well. I made a wooden jig with a 5 inch hole to guide the drill bit through the concrete. I used a lot of water from the hose when drilling and did it very slowly to avoid overheating the drill. The only problem I had was the auto clutch would engage from time to time but that is not a problem with the chisel and not even the drill as the clutch is there to protect the drill. I have 20 Took me or 30 minutes, but I'm sure it would go a lot quicker with a proper core run. The chisel itself still looks good, so I think a lot more holes could be drilled with it. I'm sure water cooling the bit was necessary, I wouldn't want to use this bit without water unless I'm drilling in something not very thick and fairly soft like limestone. I'm giving this core bit 5 stars because it's great for my needs, an alternative would be a $200 5" carbide. a drill with a tip for my big SDS-max drill.
