This is an absolutely fantastic product. Before this product was released, I removed all of the downstairs popcorn from my house using a water sprayer and a metal scraper. It was a nightmare to say the least. Even with the Dexter-esque plastic wrap, the mess was unimaginable. Also, I had to maneuver the ladder to stand on it, which only adds to the time it takes to complete the room; My arms are very long. After this experience, I hesitated for several months on the second floor of my house. By the grace of God, I spoke to the creator of the Popeeze product on the Message forums when he was still in the prototype stage. He told me to keep an eye on Revain to release and sell the product. This eventually inspired me to finish the rest of my project. I'm happy to report that I'm finally done with popcorn toppers now and I wish Popeeze would come out a year early so I can avoid so much. wasted time, fear and confusion. I estimate that using the Popeeze has saved me about 4 times more time on the actual cleaning and cleaning process compared to a manual scraper. In addition, no doubt I had to grind half as much because of its accuracy. I only made two notches in the drywall because I had trouble figuring out the best angle on the first try. A tip: 1. Use dust bags in your vacuum cleaner. Otherwise, the wet material will dry out where you don't want it to dry. You will go through a few bags but trust me its worth it.2. Start by holding the Popeeze horizontally as close to the ceiling as possible with minimal pressure. Then slowly increase the angle to 45 degrees by gently pushing forward. In other words, your front hand stays on the bar and applies pressure while your back hand slowly lowers toward the floor. At an optimal angle, it begins to slide and effortlessly removes the popcorn (assuming you've added enough water). I did this every time I brought it to the ceiling; If you start at too extreme an angle, it will most likely dig right into the drywall. Conclusion: It's worth every penny. *** Popcorn dries quickly after being sprayed with water - you'll notice it after about 5 minutes and scraping can be more difficult. Ensuring that the section you are scratching is sufficiently saturated is a key component. The angle is important, but without enough water it doesn't matter. Even if you don't use Popeeze, it will become obvious after some experience with this DIY project. I learned this the hard way with a hand scraper before the Popeeze came out. Judging by most of the low-rated reviews you've read, they probably never delved into the nuances of the project and made a few mistakes that damaged either the product or their blanket in the process. I severely damaged my ground floor with a hand scraper before I got the hang of it.
