I installed a couple of these in my pickup truck bed to have room to hook up my radiator. They won't stop a serious thief from getting it, but opportunists who just grab and go will be stopped. a roofing product called "Through the Roof" to isolate water and prevent oxidation/rusting problems. As I have them installed they are not the safest in the world and will not withstand the tremendous pressure of ratchet cable ties etc but depending on the truck bed, trailer floor or other location you can place them. , you might want to make a panel that sits behind the sheet metal you're bolting it to and use bolts instead of screws to have a very secure and consistent attachment point.
