Review on Sanyo RFWBP505F DVD Player by Lance Levatte

Like many others, I just wanted a cheap, basic Blu-ray player for one of my TVs. I received the first set on June 25th, hooked it up, connected the HDMI cable to the TV. I had some trouble turning the device on, but it eventually happened. Played the DVD and it looked good. As soon as I turned off the power, the device would no longer turn on. After playing around with it for a while, I found that the unit only turns on when I unplug the HDMI cable from the back of the unit. When the HDMI cable was connected, the device would not turn on. Very strange. I requested a replacement which Revane shipped to my home within 12 hours. The new device had the same problem as the first device: when an HDMI cable was connected to the device, it would not turn on. When I unplug the HDMI cable from the device, it turns on and off normally. I tried two HDMI cables from different brands with the same result. A very strange problem. I am of course returning both and cannot recommend buying them. I won't need refurbished electronics for a while.
