Check USB C port connection before connecting the computer. The one I received was not immediately recognized by my Macbook Pro. I pulled it out and noticed that there was some rough metal debris attached to the inside corner of the USB-C port. It looks like the metal part of the connector hasn't been properly formed or cut off. I tried unplugging the junk and plugging it back in and then the adapter was determined. However, the part where I removed the trash is still a bit rough and I will get it back. I just hope metal debris didn't damage the USB-C port on my Macbook Pro when I first plugged it in. Update: The new adapter that Lention sent me was well made and I can get gigabit ethernet speeds with it. It took my Macbook Pro several attempts to identify the adapter.
