Review on Enhancing Stability: PANAVISE 308 Weighted Base Mount by Huntsville Rawson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The assembly is solid, the holes are in place but not perfect

I've seen some old reviews that the bases came with no holes to drill. I tried it because I needed it and past customers had no problems. The ones I ordered had all the holes drilled so maybe the ones they ship these days are fine and it was just an error in the manufacturing process. This is a good heavy base that makes the vise strong for light work and has no sharp burrs. I've noticed that the baseless vise can tip over while adjusting if I use too much force. Since then, mine has never tipped over. I wouldn't advise cutting wood in it, but it's strong enough for the purpose. Build quality is solid, but don't look for mm perfection. The underside where the rubber feet attach isn't the same size - some had extra room, others almost went over the edge. There was still enough room for the rubber feet to work properly and the base didn't slip at all for me. I think it's expensive considering it's just a blackened piece of metal, but it gets the job done for me. I use my vise to get cables and other electronics working, and it provided the extra weight I needed to keep the vise from moving. YMMV.
