Enhancing Stability: PANAVISE 308 Weighted Base Mount Review

Pricey for a piece of cast iron, but a great addition to my Panavise Jr. Many reviews complain of missing or unused mounting holes. I'm guessing they must have gotten fakes because I had perfectly matched holes and threads. It even came with screws and rubber feet.

Combined with vise 300 and socket 303 this heavy duty stand makes a great tool even better. Without this heavy base, I found the other base and vise would move too much on my workbench, but I didn't want to screw it to the workbench and the clamps were a problem. I recommend it without hesitation. Fast shipping, expensive products but they do the job and last forever.

I bought 4 of these for our soldering stations in our electronics school lab. We purchased vacuum holders for our Panavise 301 PCB vise, but the vacuum holders did not fit well on the table top and fell loose after a few minutes. This was very frustrating for our students. At 5 pounds this base will certainly keep the vise from moving. Combined with a standard stand and vise (PanaVise 301), the 8-pound total weight is almost as easy to lift and move. Rubber feet are nice but also optional so you can use whatever you want. to protect against lateral forces. Installation was trivial as the supplied screws fit nicely into the base. I've seen some old reviews that the bases came with no holes to drill. I tried it because I needed it and past customers had no problems. The ones I ordered had all the holes drilled so maybe the ones they ship these days are fine and it was just an error in the manufacturing process. This is a good heavy base that makes the vise strong for light work and has no sharp burrs. I've noticed that the baseless vise can tip over while adjusting if I use too much force.
