Not so exciting after opening

This might be fine when welding or cutting metal, except the warnings directly on the packaging indicate that the product should only be handled with gloves (included in the set). He's referring to the fact that it's made of "ceramic fiber" which I now assume means fiberglass. Of course, working with fiberglass can result in small fibers getting onto the skin and causing itching or a rash. This is consistent with the warning accompanying this product. Aside from using a cutting wheel, I was hoping to use it around a campfire or grill for cooking or as a presentation mat when teaching fire making. Boy Scout, but now I'm hesitant because I know it can be awkward if I don't put on a glove. Plus points are the size and eyelets for hanging. It's thick and woven with yarn that I think is part cotton and part "ceramic". The accompanying literature states that it turns black when in flames, but does not ignite and protects other objects from it. A good spark catcher if you don't mind some of the fibers tickling the pores on your hands. I'm deducting a few stars for that I think.
