Rod storage in the car! Long test with tips!

Needed something to carry my bait rods on the street. After some searching on google and watching videos on youtube I decided to stop. A few quick notes: β€’ It fits the Subaru Outback, but I had to pry it off the rails to keep the U-brackets from scratching the car roof. Simply use Lowe's foam pad and cut to shape. β€’ The caps are designed for 40 grade PVC but can be used with sewer pipes (both have the same inside diameter, 40 grade sheet metal has only slightly thicker walls). Get a sewer pipe with a socket. Use a bell to secure the locking cap. Buy a regular cap and glue it to the other side. You won't be using a metal connector, but this is how it works. Especially since most major department stores don't have 6" Schedule 40 pipe, but usually sell 6" sewer pipe, which is pretty strong. β€’ Use rivets to attach the locking end cap. Don't worry about the screws that come with the kit. Use 3/8" x 1/2" rivets. Available from Lowe's etc. Fasten the rivets inside out so the plain end is on the inside. Apply some silicone to the flow before inserting it so it seals. Using rivets is a permanent installation that protects against someone simply unscrewing the end cap. β€’ Holds a decent amount of rods without reels. Unfortunately I don't have enough rods to check what the max is, but there are plenty of them. Holds about 6 lures with reels if you do 3 one way and 3 the other way. β€’ It took some time to install the roof, so please be patient.
