I connected this drive directly to the Macbook Air via the USB-C port. Error showing drive on desktop. Went in circles with tech support and found nothing. In desperation, I moved the connection to the USB 3 port of the dongle. Wonder! The drive will now appear on the desktop. Why USB 3 and USB C not working? Strange.
