Review on πŸ”§ Enhanced Park Tool IR-1.2 Internal Cable Routing Kit for Optimal Bicycle Frame Maintenance by Sam Davenport

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Expensive but great tool

This is a lifeline for cable routing on internally routed frames. Unlike some other tools that only give you a short line between the magnet(s) and the body, this tool has several long control lines that you run through the frame with a magnet before using one of them to pull the cable body through. Long wires are the best solution as they minimize the amount of force required when initially pulling with a magnet. It contains 4 different guide wires. One for DI2 (untested); one with a rubber boot for 5mm diameter items like hydraulic hoses or brake housings - this is too big to fit through the cable ports on my frame; One has a tapered threaded rod that screws into the inside of the body, it's about 4mm in diameter so no thicker than the switch body and works great. The last wire has no connectors to run the case, tape or anything else to do with it. It's not the cheapest option available, but the magnets are very strong and the overall build quality is very good (as expected from Park). The guide wires are nice and flexible. Aside from the price, my only complaint is that the plastic box barely fits all 4 spools of wire. They fit and leave enough room for a hand magnet in the middle, but a box about 1cm higher would be better.
