Good idea, but not ideal for all frames

This is a good tool, but not universal for internal routing. If you have something that makes shooting straight through the frame awkward, say a bottom bracket, it's not going to help much. And if you have to remove everything (which takes about half an hour), then it really isn't as much as a fridge magnet. It's convenient and helps you look like a pro, but it's just not worth the cost of regular cables. Note: Not having used it on the Di2, I suspect the new hose will boost this stat and give…

For the money...should be better!

I have many parking tools for bike maintenance. Usually the quality and benefits of the products outweigh the costs, however in this case the quality of the materials, the loose connections between the rubber parts and the wire do not correspond to their typical products. Uses a starter kit and hydraulic lines. through a special box. The derailleur was fine, but the amount of tweaking required to route the brake cables broke the rubber on the adapter and rendered it unusable. The magnet is also

Works as intended but still not easy

This kit is required for indoor wiring. This makes the process much easier than trying to pull the cables by hand. However, note that this is not an easy process, especially if your frame has unusual shapes that make routing difficult. It will probably take a few tries to pull the cable all the way through without getting stuck in the frame or losing contact with the magnet. Also an extra tip: make sure the notch on the guide is seated securely in the cable you are routing. If the guide pops…

Expensive but worth it

I spent an hour or two on Sunday running a new cable housing through my dropper post hardtail. I've tried using my Jagwire internal milling tool, tried the vacuum and thread trick and everything else I could think of, but I just couldn't get a new body around the corner at the bottom bracket. I had options: remove slide (press in), bring to store, or order this kit. Not wanting to shoot the BB yet and really didn't want to go to the store, I decided to try this set. A few days later and this…

Required for internal cable routing

This is required if you have internal cable routing. While you could probably buy some thread magnets to do the same with shifter or brake cables, this is a must for hydraulic and Di2 cables. I swapped out my SLX brakes for new XT brakes which required a new hose to run through my Top Fuel. You simply screw a blue wire into the end of the hose and pull out the old hose that pulled the blue wire through the frame. From there it's just retreat. At one point I had to pull hard to get the hose…

Pros
  • Heavy Finish
Cons

Those are cables. They are thin enough to fit in your bike. You push them and they chase the magnet. To be honest if I were making mechanical cables I'm not sure I would absolutely need it. If you're buying a frame, ask if it already has brake cable hoses - if it does, you probably don't need it. However, if you are building a bike with Shimano Di2 internal padding, this tool is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL. I don't want to be too frustrated. Di2 cables are flexible and frame tight. It has a wire…

Expensive but great tool

This is a lifeline for cable routing on internally routed frames. Unlike some other tools that only give you a short line between the magnet(s) and the body, this tool has several long control lines that you run through the frame with a magnet before using one of them to pull the cable body through. Long wires are the best solution as they minimize the amount of force required when initially pulling with a magnet. It contains 4 different guide wires. One for DI2 (untested); one with a rubber…
