I connected the displayport of this adapter to the displayport output of my new Lenovo Gen 3 workstation dock connected to my new Thinkpad P53 laptop with Windows 10. Then the DVD-D jack of this adapter connected. to my trusty old DVD-D-DVD-D cable that goes to my trusty old 24" Dell monitor. Before I bought this adapter, my DVD-D to DVD-D cable was connected to a Thinkpad W520 laptop, which worked flawlessly for years. I needed a simple solution to keep going without re-wiring, re-calibrating, re-terminating the signals and buying a new cable. I was skeptical. But it works and it's great. I simply plugged the adapter into the video cable chain with the monitor and computer off, turned on the computer and got the same HD video signal as my old Thinkpad system. No settings had to be made on the monitor or computer. Everything just worked. Saved me from buying a new cable and running it to my monitor at my desk. Then you need to agree on a new signal.
