Review on πŸ”§ 3-Piece Locking Impact Extension Set by Sunex, with 3/8-Inch Drive by Christopher Rodriguez

Amazing castle extensions.

OK I rarely write reviews but will give my opinion on this type of tool and how it is used. There are a few tasks I regularly do in my shop where it's important not to lose an outlet. The first is spark plugs. I hate pulling out a ratchet with an extension because I removed the spark plug and the socket is stuck and won't come out with my extension. If you have completed this task, you will understand what I am talking about. Aggravating! These blocking extensions help prevent this from happening. You slide the ring back on the locking extension, position the bushing so the hole lines up with the extension, and release. That's blocking the outlet, Cool! No more stuck sockets. Another challenge is to get the Dash out of the Ford truck where the dashboard screws are just under the windshield. Trust me, this is not a place where your socket can break from your extension because in that case it will be difficult to recover the socket. These blocking extensions prevent this. Wonderful! By comparison I've used Gearwrench brand fuse extenders in the past until one day while changing spark plugs the fuse pin fell out from under the extension ring and fell into the spark plug hole (not good). Luckily I was able to pull the broken pin out with a magnet to avoid possible engine damage. I no longer use the Gearwrench lockout extension. Sunex lockout extensions are much better as they don't use a floating pin in their design. I've never had Sunex brand extensions lose any parts or break, cool. So, there's my take on 2 cents.

Pros
  • Positive locking ball and slip ring for quick removal of heads and accessories
Cons
  • Not bad but...
