Got this for my 2013 Retina MacBook Pro which only has 2 USB ports and no ethernet port. I often do large uploads and downloads of 10-50GB and being able to connect directly to my router makes a huge difference. I was able to get about 100% of the promised internet speed when connected to it. At 200Mbps, a 50GB download takes about an hour instead of a few days. Having extra USB ports is great too, I haven't had to use them yet but I'm glad to know I don't have to sacrifice an external hard drive. if I need another peripheral device. Definitely something I always carry in my computer bag. Also very useful for initial router/modem setup if you like to do it yourself. I was able to get the advertised speeds using this adapter and a CAT 5e cable plugged directly into my modem/router.
