Plug and Play BUT! Make sure you have USB 3.0.

Plug and Play BUT! Make sure you have USB 3.0. I learned the hard way (had to call customer service which was awesome) that you can't plug it into USB 2.0. The difference is clear as USB 2.0 offers a transfer rate of 480 Mbit/s while USB 3.0 offers a transfer rate of 4.8 Gbit/s which is ten times faster. So your new little adapter will allow you to connect to 2.0 and use USB connections BUT NOT Ethernet and that's the main reason I bought it.

Works as expected, good for hubs

This adapter works seamlessly on a Microsoft Surface 2 laptop that only has a USB 3.0 (Type A) port and no internal Ethernet ports. - No drivers were required and we were able to transfer the OS image (over the network) using a bootable flash drive connected to the same hub/adapter. - No issues or build quality issues. I particularly like the fact that this adapter has link indicators on the ethernet port, making it easier to troubleshoot/confirm connections. The rating will be updated after…

Works exactly as it should

I am running a small PC running Windows Server 2012. I was able to install this device and its drivers very easily and verify that the LAN driver works as well as the devices connected to it . USB. I went to the CableMatters website and found the drivers depending on the USB device model. It will redirect you to the RealTek drivers page where you need to enter your email address to download the drivers. That was the only part of this product that I didn't like. One note: I noticed that the…

EUREKA! Problem solved!

My slow internet problem on my laptop SOLVED! The high-end Dell Inspiron laptop works great in every way EXCEPT (which I'm not aware of!) They put a cheap little 10/100 NIC in them that bumped my 200 Mbit/s spectrum plan down to 60-70 Mbit/ s limited. Spectrum came out TWICE and couldn't figure it out! Eventually I stumbled upon someone with the same problem (who scolded Dell for saving us!) who suggested this creative little USB Ethernet adapter. MARVELOUS! Super easy setup with no fuss (just…

Malfunction. for network products

I bought this item about a month ago. The USB ports work perfectly. However, the ethernet port (the reason I bought this item in the first place) is NO longer working. He worked for about three weeks and suddenly stopped working. When I tried to return an item for a replacement I was only a day away from Revain's return policy. I expect it to last longer than 3 weeks. Very dissatisfied. Don't buy if you need it longer. to solve my problems. I will definitely be shopping with them again as it…

SUPAFAST INTERNETS on hubs

Got this for my 2013 Retina MacBook Pro which only has 2 USB ports and no ethernet port. I often do large uploads and downloads of 10-50GB and being able to connect directly to my router makes a huge difference. I was able to get about 100% of the promised internet speed when connected to it. At 200Mbps, a 50GB download takes about an hour instead of a few days. Having extra USB ports is great too, I haven't had to use them yet but I'm glad to know I don't have to sacrifice an external hard…

Ethernet no longer works after 15 months

Great as long as it works. Began to fail a few months ago. Since disconnecting and reconnecting fixed the issue, I ignored it. As of yesterday, the network card stopped working and registered itself as an external drive, indicating a previously hidden driver installation. The hub is still fully functional. My intended target for this device was a gigabyte ethernet adapter. The hub was only needed due to the limited number of ports on the laptop it was purchased for. If you're having a similar…
