So your new little adapter will allow you to connect to 2.0 and use USB connections BUT NOT Ethernet and that's the main reason I bought it.

Got this for my 2013 Retina MacBook Pro which only has 2 USB ports and no ethernet port. I often do large uploads and downloads of 10-50GB and being able to connect directly to my router makes a huge difference. I was able to get about 100% of the promised internet speed when connected to it. At 200Mbps, a 50GB download takes about an hour instead of a few days.
