They are very sharp, intact, well packaged and work great. I used them to pierce my four year old daughter's earlobes and she didn't cry a bit. I also pierced the ears of two other family members and both said it didn't hurt. I made sure the earrings I received were the same size as the pins and I was able to push the pin all the way through, insert the tip of the earring into the hole in the pin and just follow the pin. If I could suggest one thing, I'd put it in a six-pack instead of a five-pack. An even number just makes more sense to me, but that's because I usually get symmetrical pierced ears. So I had to clean and reuse a needle on one person. But these worked great. A month after the piercing and with proper care, we had no irritation or infection.
