Like other reviewers on this item, I have to say that I am not overly impressed with the quality or performance of this item. As many have argued, a hose clamp will do the same. It just looks a little bit better and the key is just stopping the bad guy from using a screwdriver and "grab and go". I'm also disappointed that the instructions are pathetic. You would expect them to at least tell you which year Ford and Chevy require adapters for as obviously not every year or model requires one. My 1998 Ford F-150 doesn't need it, and from 1998 to 2004 the Ford F-Series cars use the same mounting points. It would be nice if I didn't have to spend 20 minutes following the wrong instructions. I assumed the same would apply to Chevys. Once installed it works seamlessly with the tailgate and this should give you the ability to difficultly remove the tailgate. When the going gets tough, they just move on to the next vehicle. Pity about the neighbors.
