Pretty cheaply made, I don't think the minimal security improvements it offers justify the price. It's a stainless steel clamp in a plastic case with a fancy head so a regular tool can't loosen it. Okay, that might stop a complete amateur from taking your back door, but this device doesn't give you a sense of security or confidence that it will withstand any attack. I agree with others, had I known this I would have taped the loop and added a couple of hose clamps. The good news is that someone

Offers better protection than a hose clamp.

With the rear cover open, anyone with a torx wrench can unscrew the factory bracket with one screw and walk away with the tailgate. This prevents quick theft and doesn't look ridiculous like a hose clamp that can rattle and get caught in the tailgate. The best option is to keep the back door locked at all times. If you forget it, it will save you from the occasional thief. If a thief with power tools and time aims at your back door, he will just rip off the factory brace if your back door is…

It's not a secure device, it's just a deterrent.

Like other reviewers on this item, I have to say that I am not overly impressed with the quality or performance of this item. As many have argued, a hose clamp will do the same. It just looks a little bit better and the key is just stopping the bad guy from using a screwdriver and "grab and go". I'm also disappointed that the instructions are pathetic. You would expect them to at least tell you which year Ford and Chevy require adapters for as obviously not every year or model requires one. My…

Suitable for Ford Ranger notchback. Nice but too simple design.

I got this for my 2001 Ford Ranger Stepside. Since the tailgate is narrower than a regular Ford Ranger, I figured why not. I also got a pop and a lock for the tailgate for further insurance. It's NOTHING more than a goddamn screw/worm clamp. In fact, you're better off just buying a $2 worm clamp. If someone wants your back door, they get it. At best, this deters thieves who just want to break out and steal someone's back door. If the thieves have any tools, they will break it in 30 seconds…

Yes, this is a famous collar. But it works.

Okay, I read a lot of reviews but despite "Yes, it's a hose clamp, just buy a hose clamp" I bought it. No, it's not just a collar. Use standard screwdriver to install/remove clamps. A special key is used for installation and removal. Not the easiest of installs, but I limited the one handed use and installed it in about 10 minutes at 11pm in the dark. I have a tailgate with an automatic latch, but it's easy to pry open with a screwdriver, which can also be used to remove the clamp. Can you win?

Extremely overpriced poor quality shackle

This lock is a poor quality shackle with an inferior plastic shell. Standard clamps are .028" thick, Β½" wide, and have slots for the adjustment screw teeth. This tailgate lock is a .028" thick, 3/8" wide yoke (1/2" wide with plastic bushing) with pressed in grooves for the adjustment screw teeth. Instead of a hex head with a slot for a screwdriver, a head that fits your key The hose clamp is installed in a plastic sleeve that aligns the wrench with the screw head.On the 2018 Tacoma, the…

(Subtraction 1* from 3 to 2 - read update for reason.) (Update #2 - forgot to subtract real star, plus added image to indicate issue.)TL:DR - Suitable for Titan XD 2019 Cummins but fits loosely even on the tightest step. However, this prevents the tailgate from being removed despite the loose fit. It's actually a yoke with a plastic covering around it. [Update: Fixed loose fitting issue. There seems to be a "bulge" in the plastic arch that the metal strap of the yoke fits into (this is the part
