I got this for my 2001 Ford Ranger Stepside. Since the tailgate is narrower than a regular Ford Ranger, I figured why not. I also got a pop and a lock for the tailgate for further insurance. Okay, I read a lot of reviews but despite "Yes, it's a hose clamp, just buy a hose clamp" I bought it. No, it's not just a collar. Use standard screwdriver to install/remove clamps. A special key is used for installation and removal. Not the easiest of installs, but I limited the one handed use and installed it in about 10 minutes at 11pm in the dark. I have a tailgate with an automatic latch, but it's easy to pry open with a screwdriver, which can also be used to remove the clamp. Can you win?
