Review on Enhanced 425Oz Stepper Motor Router with Extended Length by Mike Carter

Used to replace the stern drive motor on my 900X600 laser cutter. Connected to the laser cutter, Z-access allows me to change focus as I work. I wanted something big enough and this one manages without missing a step. This engine is pretty big. About 2-2.5 times larger than the X and Y steppers on my cutter. I set up the stepper motor driver with as few microsteps as possible to keep the torque as high as possible. In any case, Z access does not require a large amount of microstepping. Driving with a standard 24V power supply. I found I could lower the current setting and it still works fine, probably due to this motor size. Also, set the holding current to 1/2 step current to reduce motor heating during holding. VERY happy with this motor for this application. Works like a charm for the last few months of use.
