I bought these to replace ugly lights in our downstairs family room, a converted basement. The ceiling are less than 8ft high so I wanted something flush with the drywall and these are very close. The true flush one required cutting larger holes in the sheetrock and I wanted to avoid that damage. These area about 1" tall which is fine. The price was great, <$30. I bought 2 and the room is 16x24'ish. There are few windows. The old light CFL fixtures had a warmer tone and I knew I wanted a daylight color (aprox 3000K) but was not sure what would be perfect. These were a good choice since there are 3 color options, warm, daylight, and ugly bright hospital. I am using the middle setting and the color is like daylight but honestly it is too bright. They are not dimmable which is the reason I (unfairly) knocked off 1 star. I knew this when I bought them but now regret my choice. They were easy to install and came with push type electrical connectors which I like better. I did install the mounting plate upside down, the directions are not great and I ended up frustrated when the light would not go onto the plate. There are 3 wires, ground/copper a white and a black. It is pretty clear cut how to connect. They are made of plastic so dont expect some elegant look. My ceiling is white so they are not very noticeable when turned off. When they are on they look like light tubes or super bright can lights.
