Mine broke down within a year of installation and gave a false alarm when I wasn't even cooking in the house. I gathered my wallet, phone, keys and coat - my heart was pounding - then I searched the house and found nothing in the fire. There's no mute button so I had to rip it off and take out the battery to kill this thing. A reviewer with a similar story was advised by the manufacturer to delete it and email the company, but there is nothing to delete and no email address was provided. This goes in the trash can and I replace it with something else. Aside from wondering if it will work when I'm gone (will the neighbors call out fire trucks?), I just can't trust it for my safety and peace of mind.
