I bought this item for my MacBook Air because there are no USB ports and it's very hard to find one with the number of ports I need ( 4) plus a connector for the USB-C cable which was needed so I could charge my computer and use an external monitor at the same time. The first device I bought (Silver) only had 3 working ports. I processed the return and ordered it in the color I originally wanted (rose gold). This one seemed to work great! All 4 ports worked and I had no problems for several weeks. About a week after the return deadline, I received a message that my USB device was using too much power and that I should unplug it and reconnect it to other devices. To clarify, I had my webcam, mic, and universal charger plugged into something that was powered on, and a Lightning charger that was unplugged. I had no problems with it before, but I unplugged both chargers as I wasn't really using one and the other was no longer needed. About half an hour later I got the same message, although at that point only the microphone and webcam were connected (both inactive at the time). The next morning, when I was in my regularly scheduled Zoom meeting, still only connected to those two devices, my camera kept turning off, the microphone stopped working, and although the screen wasn't frozen, I couldn't click anything, Because my mouse is stuck like a spinning rainbow wheel of death. The only way I could get it to do anything was to hard reset the computer. When I turned the computer back on, the device didn't work at all. Fortunately, I was never able to get my first device back, so I was able to continue using my setup. return window. I ordered a third device because the product has such good reviews and the design is physically perfect for my needs and is quite stylish. I verified that all four ports were working, then plugged in my stuff. It worked for about 3 hours before it started doing the same thing as the second one I bought. I was able to reuse the original packaging but now only 2 ports are working. I will return what I can and will not buy any other product from this company.
