The bottom cover was very difficult to remove. Clamp firmly in a vise, attach the provided wrench and hit firmly with a 4 pound hammer. The only way to take cover to move. Standard thread direction. Added some hydraulic oil and started using it. I installed about 70 stainless steel rivets in the interior bottom and deck of my aluminum boat. This thing is amazing! I know they say you can't mix aluminum and stainless steel, but every aluminum rivet I've used just failed, so I didn't have a choice. This tool was smooth and the rivets popped within two cycles. I installed a rivet with my standard marksman pistol and almost had to step on the grip to dislodge the rivet, so that's the best $100 I've ever spent. I don't know about the durability yet, but I'm impressed. If you need to add a lot of rivets, don't hesitate.
