I needed a replacement for my DeWalt 3 Blade Planner and ordered this set despite mixed reviews. I took information from a previous reviewer who said that the straps were turned inside out and needed to be heated for installation. His observation was correct, the belts had to be in the shape of a "gear" on the outside and it was flat on the inside. To heat them up I used hot (200 F) water. This helped provide some stretch, but not exactly what was needed to avoid damage. First I put the belt on the drive wheel (motorcycle); it should bend down and around the wheel. Then, to tension the belt, I used a 15 inch PVC tube that fits into the large load wheel. I then fed the tube through the strap onto the load wheel and tightened the strap (the load wheel holds the end of the tube) by sliding it. on the wheel. It's not as easy as it looks, but with a little spin of the wheel you can get it started. Wheel. It took more than one try (warming up the belt between tries). It will run smoother next time. I believe early belt failures could be installation damage. I gave it 4 stars because these belts don't have a linear groove inside like the OEMs that help move the belt to the wheel. I've used it and the strap seems hard.
