First delete Scott's scam review because he doesn't know what he's talking about! Installed in 2017 Golf R, got the R7 on April 18th and has since used and replaced the Escort Max 360 I love. The I-5 in Fife WA is getting too congested with WSP, all brakes at 50 and so far there has been 5-6 ghosts at 4am every morning for 2 weeks. Scott. Every morning I get 3-6 hits from the KA band from half a mile away and the WSP don't use lasers in cars but motorcycle cops use lasers almost all the time so keep an eye on them, usually on the way home. Through the Fife area 1 mile before or after, set the cruise control to 50 and NEVER drive through this area! I was hit from behind twice in two weeks driving north in this area and a cop had radar on and caught him with rear radar very early on nailing a truck behind me that was coming my way at 70, at 65 ---- close but I knew he was back there so I lost 75 a minute ago. Was hit by a laser once with an R7 but luckily the adaptive cruise control was set to 65 and didn't hit the detector but saw the cop point a gun at me and switch to others behind me so be careful with the one laser detection. KA is about the same as Max 360 but K range is much better with R7 and people will tell you there is no real K range in WA but so far 3 hits from WSP and one in Kent Wa, at all the cops with radars on and catching them so far i thought they were all honda or gmc no. The rigging is about the same so far as the new Max 360 software update has helped the Honda a bit, but a trip to Oregon this weekend still picks them up, but they should be very close. Thursday's drive into Oregon is mostly smooth, especially in Oregon, spooky 200 miles. no cops and even drove around mount hood but nothing! No cops, nothing? Got 120's once or twice, maybe didn't say I did but had fun and hoped there weren't any hidden cams in Oregon but the locals speed up a bit. Track back and forth and nobody behind for about 1 mile just a small herd following the herd I was doing 75 inches. First thought was wrong because of a car or something but the detector wouldn't stop alerting and getting stronger so my spider sense didn't feel good so I turned the cruise back to 70. finally saw a car from behind through a swarm with me LED lights come on, wasn't sure what it was and I lost my backpack I was in because I drive 5mph just to be safe. Guess which charcoal Dodge WSP was going a mile back to full K range when his backpack was gone and he went into a slow lane that hit the beans and caught me a few seconds later with a detector that was K- all the way Range screamed, and that was simply set to 60% K range! The wife was impressed that the detector took about 5 minutes beforehand and we agreed the detector had just paid for itself as we had driven a little faster earlier! We had another meet up in the back going N to Chehalis WA and got up early again with a full K lane entering the 70 mile zone into the 60 mile zone so you continued the cruise after last meeting on 60. Guess what silver Dodge WSP does about 80 behind chasing speeders ahead, damn assholes! Frau watched the detector like a hawk again and was amazed at how early the R7 warned us about the K-band. Sorry for the long review but Scott you are wrong! In two weeks R7 probably got rid of some tickets for a slightly higher price. The Max 360 is really good and I like some of its features but its K-band doesn't come close to the R7, I think it's over filtered. , the K-series still exists folks! Arrows are a must as I've had several detectors without them, but I'll never go back to them. but so far very impressed with the R7! I need more time with R7 but Max 360 has saved me at least 10 times in the last year but a lidar ticket was my mistake for not responding fast enough as it actually gave me enough time but I was too busy to ignore it. Thanks Vortex, but be careful with band segmentation as I had multiple out-of-segment readings on both bands and don't want to go to court to dispute those readings. I run all the K and KA bands just to be on the safe side and the R7 still has great range. Lots of K's and KA's in the last year so don't trust Scott, lazy cops use RADAR not lidar! Oh, and the county police are coming, they almost always have RADAR on oncoming lanes! Good luck, and if you don't have a RADAR detector, don't exceed 5 mph or you'll be ticketed!
