I bought this adapter to use with an old laptop (PC/Win10) with a relatively slow built-in WiFi adapter. I have a 300 Mbps internet connection and a Ubiquiti Pro commercial wireless network. The only limitation I encountered was the internal adapter on this machine. The problem is that a slow wireless connection makes EVERYTHING seem slow since we spend most of our lives in the cloud. My machine doesn't have a CD drive so I downloaded the drivers from the link in the product description. Speed test before making changes - After installing new device drivers, I plugged in the USB adapter - Under Control Panel > Network Connections, I disabled the internal WiFi adapter - I connected to our WiFi network with the USB adapter as usual. - I did a speed test. As you can see from the results, $20 and 5 minutes of work increased the download speed from 18 Mbps to 132 Mbps - a 733% increase. Because this machine doesn't travel, an external USB adapter isn't impractical, so the switch is permanent. I am enthusiastic about the price and performance of this device and can only recommend it.
