Works right out of the box

After getting my new work laptop which doesn't have HDMI, USB or Ethernet ports I've read many reviews on many devices. I like to get my laptop out of the way and use a USB keyboard, USB camera/microphone, HDMI monitor, Ethernet connection, and power port. I plugged in the adapter and everything worked fine. I read reviews on this and other products that said some features didn't work very well but everything worked great. I've had the power connected for about 8 hours now and there is almost no noticeable heat at the hub. The only thing is that it took me a few extra seconds to figure out that the adapter should "snap" into your laptop. It takes a little effort, but you'll hear a "click" as it goes in. I expect it will be difficult to get it out when travelling, which usually happens about once every two weeks. The adapter looks exactly the same color. Since my Mac and materials even look the same, if that matters to you. With the laptop out of the way, I almost never see mine. I'm a little concerned about durability. The binding required to insert a hub is quite significant. I can see how I might damage the connectors over time. We will see. I've only been using the laptop for 3 years, so I think its usefulness means I have to disconnect and reconnect 72 times. I'll probably have to buy another adapter if I get a Mac again. Overall, I'm delighted with the hub. It works exactly as I expected and I didn't notice any imperfections in the connectors.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Hard to remember but it was
